A paper entitled “Estimating viscoelastic compliance of desiccating cementitious materials using drying prism tests. ” was published. The link to the paper is here.

Dr. Shi has been selected to participate in the 2021 United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) E. Kika De La Garza Fellowship program. The official announcement is here.

Dr. Shi’s proposal “Nondestructive Assessment of Additive Dispersion Quality in Conductive Concrete Using Electromagnetic Waves” won the TXST 2021 Multidisciplinary Internal Research Grant (MIRG) program. He will work with Dr. Maggie Chen (Co-I), a faculty member from Electrical Engineering, on this project. The announcement is here.

Dr. Shi was recently promoted to a voting member of American Concrete Institute 555 committee Concrete with Recycled Materials.

Dr. Shi serves as one of the two co-chairs of the 11th International Association of Chinese Infrastructure Professionals (IACIP) Annual Workshop. The workshop will be held virtually on 01/10/2021 and 01/17/2021 (Beijing Time). Dr. Shi won the 2020-2021 NASA MINDS research project. He will collaborate with Dr. Robert McLean to develop alternative building materials for Lunar and Martian construction.

Dr. Shi’s won the FY 21 REP project at Texas State University. The project focuses on using recycled carbon fiber to make electrically conductive concrete for multifunctional civil engineering infrastructure.  

Dr. Shi serves as Co-chair of Concrete Pavements Committee at World Transport Convention (WTC) . He is working with committee Chair Dr. Ya Wei from Tsinghua University.
